Death Midwife

A death midwife (also known as an end-of-life doula, or death doula) offers compassionate, non-medical support to individuals and families as they approach death. Much like a birth midwife supports the beginning of life, a death midwife supports the end — holding space with presence, dignity, and care.

This work centers on emotional, spiritual, and practical support. A death midwife does not replace medical or hospice care, but works alongside it, helping individuals and loved ones feel less alone, more informed, and more supported during an often overwhelming time.

Support may also extend to those navigating the anticipated or recent death of a beloved animal companion, honoring the profound bonds shared with pets and the grief that follows.

Death midwifery honors the natural rhythms of dying, respects personal beliefs and cultures, and prioritizes comfort, meaning, and connection.

I am INELDA (International End-of-Life Doula Association) trained.

End-of-Life Support

Support for Individuals and Families at the End of Life

As a death midwife, I support individuals who are nearing the end of life, as well as their families, animal companions, and caregivers. This support may include gentle presence, listening, legacy or life-review conversations, emotional reassurance, vigil sitting, and guidance around the dying process.

I help individuals and families navigate this time with greater clarity and calm, offering a steady, compassionate presence that allows space for grief, love, reflection, and rest. Services are always tailored to the individual’s wishes and values, and are provided in collaboration with hospice, medical teams, and loved ones.

This care is inclusive, non-religious unless requested, and grounded in respect for each person’s unique experience.

Legacy & Memorial Projects

I support individuals and families in the thoughtful creation of legacy projects that honor a life, preserve memories, and offer meaningful connection during the end-of-life process.

Legacy work may include guided letter writing, audio or video recordings, collaborative art-making, memory books, personal storytelling, symbolic objects, or other creative expressions that reflect the values, relationships, and lived experiences of the person who is dying. These projects can be created with the individual, by family members, or together in shared space.

I facilitate both private one-on-one sessions and small group workshops, offering structure, creative guidance, and emotional support throughout the process. Whether simple or elaborate, each project is approached with care, intention, and respect for personal beliefs and family dynamics.

Legacy creation can provide comfort, clarity, and a tangible expression of love and respect — supporting both the person nearing death and those who will carry their memory forward.

Additional types of legacy projects may include:

  • Handwritten letters or guided legacy journaling

  • Mixed media artworks incorporating personal materials

  • Decorative keepsakes or commemorative objects

  • Group art-making workshops designed for shared remembrance

  • Creative memorial planning support

  • Audio recordings of stories, messages, or reflections

  • Video interviews or filmed conversations

  • Collaborative storytelling sessions

  • Sculpture or small symbolic objects

  • Custom or participatory jewelry pieces

  • Memory books or archival collections of photographs and documents

  • Ritual-based creative gatherings
